A circular gilt bronze medal, the obverse centre bearing a crowned cipher W (for King Wilhelm) above the inscription Dem siegreichen Heere (The victorious Army), circumscribed with Gott war mit uns Ihm sei die Ehre (God was with us To Him the Glory), the reverse bears an Iron cross (cross paty) with rays
