Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon affixed to a pentagonal brass plate with a horizontal pinback, the obverse bearing a raised depiction of a border guard wearing a greatcoat and wielding a PPSh 41 submachine gun, flanked by a border marker and situated against a mountainous backdrop, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of (FOR DISTINCTION IN PROTECTION OF THE STATE BORDERS), situated above a semi
